Afraid of Godzilla, Mark reluctantly complies despite his disdain for him. A three-headed Titan called "Monster Zero." is being held captive in Antarctica by Jonah. Emma unleashes Monster Zero, who attacks Godzilla, devours Graham, and flees. Emma subsequently joins the terrorists, the squad finds out. With the Titans awoken, Emma calls Monarch from her Monarch bunker in Boston.
Awakened Rodan is lured to Monster Zero by the Monarch squad in Mexico. Godzilla ambushes Monster Zero and cuts off his left head after he defeats Rodan. The "Oxygen Destroyer," is a prototype weapon used by the US Navy during the battle that seems to have killed Godzilla. No matter what Rodan does, he is unable to stop Monster Zero from regrowing his head and waking up the rest of the Titans worldwide. Consequently, Emma is disowned by Madison.
Mothra sacrifices herself and transmits her energy to Godzilla as Ghidorah prepares to slay him. In order to thwart Godzilla's invasion of Earth, Mark, Emma and Madison restart the Orca. As a result, Mark, Madison, and the rest of the Monarch crew had time to flee the scene. A freshly strengthened Godzilla overcomes Ghidorah in the final battle. The Titans, led by Rodan, assemble before Godzilla and submit to his authority.

For his two-page proposal, Dougherty included basic beats and character sketches. Then Dougherty and co-writer/executive producer Zach Shields convened a writers' room with Borenstein. Ten authors aided the treatment's development. It took a year to write the script.
Dougherty and Shields opted for a human narrative line that could stand on its own without the presence of monsters and substitute the science fiction components with topics such as climate change or eco-terrorism. Dougherty considered the third act to be the most difficult to write since so many threads from the human and monster stories intertwined. According to Shields, Emma's address to Monarch went through multiple drafts. Shields and Dougherty intended the speech to provide a moral dilemma to the audience: would they place their trust in humans or Mother Nature?
Dougherty wanted to restore the "God in Godzilla". He loved the concept that Gareth Edwards and Matt Allsopp designed but wanted to change it by adding the dorsal plates of the 1954 model, as well as making the claws and feet wider to make Godzilla appear like a more formidable predator. The director requested the sound design crew expand on Godzilla's scream by making it sound closer to the roars of the 1954 edition, adding, "I believe they did a terrific job with Godzilla's roar in the first movie. I pushed them a little bit farther to make it even closer to the (1954) original even more."
To give Rodan the appearance of being able to survive in a volcano, volcanic rock was added to his scales and skin tone. "Mother Nature could have created." Dougherty said of Rodan's design. Rather of only focusing on the Pteranodon, the designers were told to look at birds like vultures, hawks, and eagles, which are closely connected to dinosaurs. It's not easy to tell where Rodan's loyalties lie, according to Dougherty. The film's director further defined Rodan as a "massive A-bomb" that provides "speed and ferocity." Designed by Amalgamated Dynamics and Tom Woodruff Jr. The Rodan chase scene was the first pre-visualization sequence used to pitch the film to Legendary.
It has been revealed by Dougherty that the film would have original creatures that aren't from Toho. Baphomet, Typhon, Abaddon, Bunyip, Methuselah, Behemoth, Scylla, Tiamat, Leviathan, Sargon, and Mokele-Mbembe were revealed as the names of the non-Toho Titans. Adding new monsters to the Godzilla pantheon was a "Toho tradition" for Dougherty, so he produced new ones. It was Dougherty's initial plan to get Anguirus, Biollante, and Gigan from Toho as part of Legendary's acquisition spree. However, due to the film's limited budget, they were unable to incorporate any more Toho characters.
The filmmaker was concerned about "getting the noises right." when it came to the roars. Sound designers were given an edited "super cut" of monster roars from the Shwa Godzilla films to work with. According to him, he said that the monsters will sound like the originals, but with new roars. While filming, Dougherty arranged up a big speaker system to play the Shwa roars for situations in which players had to flee or respond to the creatures.
A VIP press screening was conducted on May 17, 2019 at the AMC Century City cinema in Los Angeles.
For those who couldn't make it, a green-screen photo booth was set up that enabled them to be put in the movie. In addition to a mini-poster of the ticket graphic, Regal Cinemas provided IMAX guests with collector tickets. There were two types of collector tickets available: standard (measured 4" × 7.5") and Godzilla-sized (5.125" × 9.5"). For one month in June 2019, the film's theatrical run in China will be extended.
Emma and Mark are now separated, and she works as a paleobiologist for Monarch while living with her cousin Madison (now played by Millie Bobby Brown). As part of her research on The Orca, she has been developing frequencies for interacting with Titans. Because of Madison, Mark continues to try and keep touch with them. Mothra's birth is seen by other scientists in an underground facility in China.
As she exits, she discovers troops with weapons drawn on her, and she responds furiously, blasting them with webbing. Emma hurries to try to activate the Orca and succeeds to discover a frequency that Mothra can comprehend, which calms her down. Madison is even able to approach her and touch her. Unfortunately, the moment is marred when a bunch of eco-terrorists headed by Alan Jonah (Charles Dance) swoop in, murder the surviving scientists, and abduct Emma and Madison. Mothra gets to escape.
At a Monarch senate session, Dr. Ishiro Serizawa (Ken Watanabe), Dr. Vivienne Graham (Sally Hawkins), and Dr. Sam Coleman (Thomas Middleditch) walk out as the senators demand that Monarch be incorporated into the U.S. government. They subsequently meet with Mark after discovering that Emma and Madison were seized by Jonah, as he intends to utilize the Orca for his own sinister goals.
Godzilla has been confined, but he is now being released in order for him to begin to trust them. Godzilla and Monarch then swim for Antarctica.
Emma and Madison are taken to a location where a gigantic beast known as "Monster Zero" — King Ghidorah – is frozen solid. When Monarch and Jonah's squad ultimately collide, they set up the Orca to attempt to speak with him. However, when Madison approaches Mark, Emma takes a detonator and sets off the ice explosives in order to liberate Ghidorah from Mark's clutches. Her actions cause a stampede among her peers. The three-headed monster has been let free and is now floating on top of the water.
A little while later, Ghidorah arrives and engages Rodan in combat. Using his many heads, Ghidorah is able to knock down Rodan. For the second time, Godzilla interrupts the fight. This time around, Rodan's left head is torn off by Godzilla, who continues to fight. Meanwhile, Captain William Stenz (David Straithairn) contacts Monarch and informs them that the military is ready to fire a large bomb known as the "Oxygen Destroyer" in order to destroy the creatures. However, Ghidorah manages to flee while Godzilla seems to have died.
On the summit of the volcano, Ghidorah is able to regrow his head. Titans are roused from their slumber by his piercing scream. The Titans respond by wreaking havoc on their own territories, resulting in the deaths of many people. Ghidorah's reign is even accepted by Rodan, who recognizes Ghidorah as the Titans' alpha, and so submits to his authority as a result.
Mothra, who has been cocooned beneath a waterfall, emerges with luminous wings and flies for Godzilla, who is alive but weakened and healing underwater. Mothra and Godzilla are spotted by Monarch as they communicate with each other. Mothra and Godzilla "have a thing," as Barnes puts it, and the crew agrees with him. He was one of the Titans most feared and would confront Godzilla for power, according to Ilene's research from historical texts. "
Mark, Serizawa, Ilene, and Coleman go to Godzilla's location with the goal of reviving him. It is said that it could take years for him to fully heal. They know that Godzilla and other Titans like him eat radiation, so they can detonate a nuke that will make him better faster. So Serizawa takes the nuke down there and sets it off himself. The sub's weapons systems have been damaged, so this is the only way to get the nuke down there and set it off. It is the closest he has ever come to Godzilla. He says goodbye to his coworkers and makes his way up to Godzilla. Pets Godzilla as he tells him goodbye and detonates the nuke, giving up his life in the process. Once more powerful than ever before, Big G emerges and fires his atomic breath into the sky.
This time, the three heads chomp into Godzilla's sides. Godzilla and Ghidorah fight again. Up in the sky, a beam of light comes out. Mothra comes down to help Godzilla by webbing all three of his heads together. This is what happens when Rodan comes back. Mothra fights back, almost taking her head off, until she outsmarts him and jabs her stinger into his shoulder. It looks like Ghidorah has weakened Godzilla, so Mothra is there to help her friend, too. She rises toward Ghidorah, but the beast fires his lightning and vaporizes her. Godzilla gets a boost from her essence.
He rises in a fit of rage and continues to wreak havoc on his arch-enemies. Humans are racing to leave Boston, but Emma knows she must make amends for her actions. In spite of Mark and Madison's pleadings, she refuses to get on the plane to leave the city. Using the Orca, she lures Ghidorah into her van. While Godzilla's nuclear pulse is still building, he fires a blast at her, knocking her out of the van. Emma's final words are, "Long live the king." Skyscrapers collapse around him as everything else catches fire and goes up in smoke. Ghidorah is finally destroyed by Big G's powerful blast, which burns off his wings and kills his two side heads. After one more blast, the city burns to the ground, and Ghidorah's head emerges from the ashes... Godzilla, on the other hand, sucks the life out of the creature with one swoop.
The rest of the Titans will arrive in what's left of Boston soon enough. Even Rodan bows before Godzilla. Astonishment engulfs Mark, Madison, and the rest of Monarch as they watch. After then, Godzilla lets forth a jubilant cry of victory.
After the credits, Jonah and his men pursue a guy who gives them one of Ghidorah's heads at Isla De Mara. To which Jonah responds that he will steal it for an unknown reason.
Eco-terrorist Alan Jonah and his squad capture Dr. Emma Russell and her daughter Madison to awaken King Ghidorah using a gadget Emma built called The Orca that transmits frequencies needed to connect with Titans. Emma uses the Orca to tame a newly-hatched Mothra, which Jonah sees.
Godzilla is seriously damaged by a bomb fired by the military. Monarch understands that a nuclear would speed up his recovery, so he's hiding down beneath. Dr. Serizawa is willing to die in order to bring Godzilla back to life.
Jonah and Emma part up as she realizes the damage she's done to the Titans and heads into Boston to find Madison. As a result, Godzilla and Mothra face up against Ghidorah and Rodan in an all-out war. After defeating Rodan, Mothra sacrifices herself to Ghidorah, enabling her essence to be absorbed by Godzilla, allowing him to regain his strength. Emma sacrifices herself in order to draw Ghidorah away from Godzilla with the Orca. Using the nuclear pulse from the nuke, Godzilla is able to fully destroy Ghidorah. The rest of the Titans follow suit and bow before Godzilla, who has become the helm of the group.
